The ride up takes 4 minutes and our family of 4 was able to fit in one pod together. We checked in 5 minutes prior to arch ride and our tour guide shared information about the arch with us and also showed a short few minute video that was very interesting showcasing the period which the arch was built. We could have spent well over an hour walking around and reading all the history. The museum is very interactive and does not cost anything to walk around and view. We failed to bring the parking stub so needed up paying for parking. NOTE: if you park in any of the arch parking garages make sure to bring your parking ticket stub to get validated at the visitor desk. We pre-booked our Arch ride online in advance (which I recommend) and arrived about an hour early in order to park and walk around the museum. When entering the building masks are required but were provided if you did not have. I brought my husband and 2 boys, ages 10 & 13, and the trip did not disappoint. The last time I visited the Arch was as a tween in the early 1990s. It's nothing to be afraid of but you have to be ok with it (as well as riding in a small tram car) or I wouldn't recommend going to the top. The day we went, the wind was blowing and you could feel the arch moving. Once you get to the top, there are small windows to look out and the view of St. The ride to the top takes less than 8 minutes. Five people fit in each car but if you are more than 6 feet tall, you will have to hunch over to fit in. After you get through the museum, you enter a large atrium which has a small food court, and the north tram is on the left and the south tram is on the right, so very easy and convenient to get to. There is a tram for the north arch and a tram for the south arch. Louis as well as the architect and the building of the arch. I would recommend going 30-45 minutes before the scheduled time because there is a nice museum before you get to the trams. When you first enter the visitor's center, there is a mock tram car there so you can get in it to make sure you are ok being in such a small car (more on the size of the car later in this post). We bought our tickets online ahead of time for a 9:30am Saturday reservation for the tram. but it is and I'm very glad we experienced it. I had no idea that this was the tallest man-made monument in the U.S.
